The Browser's Spell Checker is not Working on Rich Text Control Fields (Doc ID 2812750.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 11, 2021

Applies to:

Siebel CRM - Version 15.16 [IP2015] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The browser's spellchecker is working on most Siebel fields, but it is not working on fields that are of type Rich Text Controls (RTC). These are controls on form applets with property "HTML Type = RTCEmbedded". When right-clicking on a mispelled word, it is showing just the 'Paste' context menu item.

For instance, the following is from the view "Project Note View" and text entry in the "Note" field.

Navigation: Site Map > Projects > List > Notes > Public Notes

The expected behavior is that when right-clicking on a mispelled word, it would bring up the browser's context menu with spelling suggestions. The screenshot below is in the same view, but this time the text entry is in the "Title" field. We can see the spelling suggestion for this field as expected.
