Attributes Based on Promotion Rules are Getting the Value Reset to the First Value When Invoking eConfigurator From a Modify Asset to Quote (Doc ID 2821768.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 17, 2021

Applies to:

Siebel Quote and Order Capture - Version 19.7 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When clicking on the 'Customize' button in the Quote Line Item to invoke eConfigurator, attribute values are not maintained in the context of promotion and getting reset to the first value in the enumerated list. This occurs on just a few Quote records and works fine for the majority of the Quotes.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. A customizable product 'CP_Product' with no child product has just an attribute 'CP_Color'. The attribute has enumerated values with the following sequence:

Attribute CP_Color
Sequence Value
1 Red
2 Green
3 Blue
4 Gold

2. 'CP_Product' is added as part of the product promotion 'CP_Promotion'. Inside the promotion structure, attribute 'CP_Color' is set to value 'Gold'.

3. Both 'CP_Promotion' and 'CP_Product' are assetized as part of an account. Attribute 'CP_Color' has the value 'Gold' as expected in the asset.

4. A quote is created from the 'Modify' asset process. In the new quote, the attriubute 'CP_Color' still has the correct value 'Gold'.

5. However, once clicking on the 'Customize' button for 'CP_Product' in the new quote, the attribute 'CP_Color' is getting changed to the first value 'Red', which has a sequence of 1.

This is unexpected as the promotion rule is to have attribute 'CP_Color' with value 'Gold' and has a bigger impact for larger product structures with many attributes.
