After Applying 21.4 Update, PNG And BMP Files Fail To Be Displayed As Product Images With Browser Console Error: net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED 200 (Doc ID 2855383.1)

After applying Siebel CRM 21.4 or later, product images with PNG or BMP types are not displayed.

The issue can be replicated with the steps below:

  1. Login to Siebel client.
  2. Go to 'Site Map'->'Administration - Document'->'Literature' view.
  3. Click 'New File' button and create a new record from Test1.jpg. Repeat this for other files (Test2.gif, Test3.png, Test4.bmp).
  4. Go to 'Site Map'->'Administration - Product'->'Products' view.
  5. Create 4 product records (Product1, Product2, Product3, Product4) and release them.
  6. Go to 'Site Map'->'Administration - Product'->'Products'->'More Info'->'More Info' view.
  7. Select Product1 and set Test1 in Image(or 'Image File Name') control. Repeat this for other products (Test2 for Product2, Test3 for Product3, Test4 for Product4).
  8. Go to 'Site Map'->'Products'->'Internal Product List' view.
  9. Select Product1 and drilldown on the Name list column.
  10. You will see the Test1.jpg in 'Product Image' applet.
  11. Repeat this for other product records.
