Symptoms
Siebel Application Server 21.12 version running on AIX version 7.2, in "catalina.log" file located under "<SIEBEL_ROOT>/applicationcontainer_internal/logs/catalina.<date>.log" the following error message is being returned and ses tomcat freeze(not processing requests):
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Stop Siebel services and its tomcats in current environment 20.8
2. Apply 21.12 patchset on top of 20.8 PS in all servers.
3. Start Siebel services and monitor "catalina.<date>.log" file to see if there are error messages like -- java.io.IOException: Too many open files
4. Along with error messages in catalina.<date>.log file, at OS level file descriptor number keeps on increases gradually and can be monitored with help of "lsof | wc -l" or lsof -P -i -n -p <sestomcatpid>
Changes
Applied 21.12 monthly update on top of existing 20.8 installation.
