Updating The User Password Through User Preference Screen Throws "SBL-SEC-10018: Incorrect syntax near '.'." Error Message (Doc ID 2926814.1)

Symptoms

When a user attempts to change its password from User Preferences screen, the following error is recorded in Object Manager log:

SCCObjMgr_enu_*****.log

 The error is reported for Siebel environments running on MSSQL Database.

The reported version is 22.6, however it can impact prior versions as well.

 

Steps to reproduce:

1. Ensure that PropagateChange parameter is set to TRUE for the security adapter used.

Instructions can be found in (Doc ID 2522338.1)

2. Set up a new User ID with special characters. Ex: J.DOE
This should be a proper user with access to the Siebel application and a matching record in the MSSQL Database

3. Log in to the application with the User ID J.DOE created at step #2

4. Navigate to Tools -> User Preference and try to update the password with any other value.

 

Changes

 Environment was upgraded from IP16 to 22.6
