How to Use Unix/Linux Named Pipe (FIFO) To Optimize Server Manager (srvrmgr) Utilization For Monitoring Purposes? (Doc ID 2930211.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 23, 2023

Applies to:

Siebel CRM - Version 17.0 [IP2017] and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

This document provides instructions on how to setup Unix/Linux named pipe (FIFO) to submit srvrmgr commands without opening a new srvrmgr session for each interaction.

By using the aforementioned method it helps to reduce the overhead on the login processing as the named pipe will continue listening while srvrmgr is running, which can be very helpful for monitoring scripts.

This is dependent on Unix/Linux named pipe solution and does not work on Windows OS, but one could still write a python wrapper to simulate the same.
