Siebel Gateway Service Does Not Start After Monthly Patch Update Due to Exception In Registry Operation (Doc ID 2971028.1)

After patching the environment to 23.7 version the Siebel Gateway does not start.


Following errors were present in \ses\applicationcontainer_internal\logs\cloudgateway.log:

at com.siebel.opcgw.cloudgateway.CGServletContext.contextInitialized( [opcgw.jar:?]
at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext.listenerStart(Unknown Source) [catalina.jar:9.0.74]
at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext.startInternal(Unknown Source) [catalina.jar:9.0.74]


Following errors were present in \ses\gtwysrvr\log\registryupgrade.log:

2023-08-16 02:59:15 ERROR The directory c:\Siebel\ses\gtwysrvr\registry\conf does not exists. Unable to upgrade the Siebel Gateway Registry


NOTE: Issue occurs only when patching from a Siebel version prior to 21.4 to a Siebel version 23.7 or higher.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Stop the services.
2. Patch the SES component to 23.7
3. Start the Gateway Services.


Siebel was updated to 23.7 version.
