Symptoms

On a Development / Test environment, the Generate New Database Template (GenNewDB) task is ending with errors detailed below:

(Task Status = ERROR: Completed with errors.)

Extracts from the log file (GenNewDB*.log) were showing:

DBCLog DBCLogError 1 0000000665720134:0 2023-12-08 02:47:30 [Sybase][ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Anywhere]Unable to start database server

Attempts were made to check .odbc.ini file is correct; copying IVSE.LIC as IVODBC.LIC file; forcing the rebuild of the Dicache.dat and Dicdata.dat (followed by enterprise bounce) - but those did not help.

The steps to reproduce this in that specific environment are:

1. Start a new GenNewDB task either as a Job from Administration - Server Management > Jobs (or using srvrmgr command line > 'start task for comp gennewdb')
2. Monitor the execution of the task;
3. See that completing with above errors.
