Running the Siebenv.sh Script After A Siebel Monthly Update to 24.x Or Later Fails When Loading libz.so.1 Shared Library (Doc ID 3007006.1)

Last updated on MARCH 18, 2024

Applies to:

Siebel CRM - Version 24.2 and later
Generic UNIX
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Sourcing the Siebel environment via siebenv.sh after a Siebel update to 24.x or later fails during regautobackup step:

./siebenv.sh
$SES/siebsrvr/mw/bin/regautobackup: error while loading shared libraries: libz.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The installActions<date>.log and oraInstall<date>.err also capture the same error:

INFO: Start output from spawned process:
INFO: ----------------------------------
INFO:

INFO:
$SES/siebsrvr/mw/bin/regedit: error while loading shared libraries: libz.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Install Siebel 23.12 Release or older and configure the Siebel schema on the database.
2. Create and deploy all the required profiles via SMC (Gateway, Enterprise, Server and AI).
3. Download and apply the Siebel 24.x release on the Siebel Server instance.
4. Attempt to source the Siebel environment via siebenv.sh and notice the error.

Changes

Siebel release was updated from 23.8 to 24.x.
