Siebel Webtools: Changing Any Property Of Business Component Field Is Automatically Increasing The Text Length Property To 1 Million Times Of Its Original Value (Doc ID 3051676.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to change any property of an existing Buscomp field, the field's text length automatically changes to 1,000,000 times its original value, resulting in the following error

[1]An error has occurred writing to a record.
Please continue or ask your systems administrator to check your application configuration if the problem persists.(SBL-DBC-00111) [2]ORA-01438: value larger than specified precision allowed for this column ORA-06512: at line 6

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Login to webtools

2. Select a business component field

3. Try to change any of the field's property value.

4. Notice that the field text length changes to 10^6 and throws above error

Notice that the Text Length automatically increments after updating the comments field property

 

Issue is noticed only in webtools object manager and can not be reproduced with normal Siebel Tools. 

Changes

 update any BC field level property
