Unable To Edit Custom Created Fields in 'Time Sheet' Business Component After 'Submit' The Time Sheet – Fields Become Read-Only (Doc ID 3080447.1)

Last updated on APRIL 07, 2025

Applies to:

Siebel Field Service - Version 24.10 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Actual Behavior:

After implementing new custom fields in the 'Time Sheet' Business Component (BC), an issue is encountered where these custom fields become uneditable (i.e., read-only) once a time sheet record has been "Submit"

The 'Time Sheet' BC contains custom fields (e.g., new fields are created on the vanilla Siebel configuration).

These fields are editable before submission.

After clicking "Submit" on the time sheet, the fields become "Read-only", preventing further editing.

Expected Behavior:

The expectation is that newly created custom fields are editable even when the 'Time Sheet' is marked as "Submit"

Steps:

➡️ Launch Siebel Tools or Siebel Web Tools and create a new 'Workspace'.

➡️ In the Object Explorer, navigate to ➜ Business Components.

➡️ Query for the business component named 'Time Sheet'.

➡️ Add a new custom field by navigating to the 'Fields' object under the 'Time Sheet' business component.
       ◆ Name   : 'Test Field'
◆ Column : Choose an existing 'custom column' that has already been created in the base table (e.g., S_TMSHT).

➡️ Expose the custom field ('Test Field') in the Siebel-UI (applet).

➡️ Publish the 'Workspace' to MAIN.

➡️ After completing these steps, the new custom field should now be visible in the Siebel UI and available for user interaction.

Note: There are no user properties, scripts, or conditions implemented that make the field read-only.
