The Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) is a platform-independent, distributed, object-oriented system for creating binary software components that can interact. COM allows an object to expose its functionality to other components and to host applications in a client and a server paradigm. The server exposes functionality through objects and methods, and the client calls the server to leverage existing specialized functionality in terms of properties and methods.
Siebel CRM includes a variety of COM interfaces. For more information on these interfaces, refer to these Siebel Bookshelf sections:
In version 2018: Siebel Object Interfaces Reference > About Object Interfaces and the Programming Environment > Object Interfaces You Can Use to Access Siebel Objects > About the Siebel COM Object Interface
In version 8.0: Siebel Object Interfaces Reference > Programming > About Siebel Object Interfaces > Siebel COM Interfaces.
This technical note focuses on the Siebel COM Data Server.
