Siebel Security Adapter Software Developers Kit for Siebel Business Applications (Doc ID 476962.1)

IMPORTANT!  There have been some changes in Siebel 8.1.x that impact the custom security adapter SDK and which are not currently reflected in the documentation.  Individuals developing a custom adapter for 8.1 or migrating a previously created custom adapter to 8.1 need to review <Document 1062497.1> for more information.

IMPORTANT!  With the addition of SAML support to the standard Siebel product in IP2016 and later, there are means to meet most requirements without the need for custom security adapters.  As such, no further development is being done on the SDK at this time.  Existing custom security adapters with appropriate modifications and potential limitations should continue to work with current releases, but Oracle does not guarantee forward compatibility of existing adapters.  As such custom security adapters may cease to function or lose specific functionality in later releases.

IMPORTANT!  Due to changes in how access is granted to system administration views, many custom security adapters will not allow users access to these views.  The best workaround in these cases is to have a separate application object manager using a standard security adapter when access to system administration views are required.

It also MAY be possible (although this has not been tested) to modify an existing custom security adapter to appropriately use the SecurityGetRoles function to populate the Siebel Administrator responsibility required for access to the system administration views.  Such work, however, falls outside the scope of Technical Support and would need to be explored on a billable basis by Advanced Customer Services or other appropriate consultant.

NOTE:  This document and related files are currently (as of 11-MAR-2014) undergoing a thorough review and updating.  Although the attached can still be used, please read this article carefully about potential limitations.  Also some difficulties have been reported trying to compile on a C compiler.  In those cases using a C++ compiler has worked.
