Caching VBC/VBC BS Classes CSSFABCVRec and CSSFAExternalService in Siebel Industry Applications (Doc ID 477671.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 05, 2025

Applies to:

Siebel System Software - Version 7.5.3 SIA [16157] and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

The purpose of this technical note is to provide information to enable the use of the Caching VBC functionality and provide a demonstration scenario.
Integrating external systems with Siebel data in real time is a common business requirement. A standard approach is to utilize Virtual Business Components (VBC) with a substantial amount of scripting. This approach, however, often has associated performance and scalability concerns.

The Caching VBC was originally developed to address integration with external billing systems, and the design requires a minimal amount of scripting. These features, however, can easily be extended and applied to a broad set of integration challenges beyond billing.
