Symptoms

We have a workflow which inserts a record into a custom BC based on activity table using a Siebel Process Step.

First time the workflow is run for a user session, it takes more than 20 seconds to perform this step.

Subsequently this step only takes less than 2 seconds (within the same user session).  If user logs back in again and reruns the workflow, it takes more than 20 seconds again.

If users create the same record through the UI, then there is no time delay.

This happens both on dedicated and web client.

An object manager log file, which shows some time delays at the time of the insert under "buffer wraps" which seems to be the cause of the time delay.

What are buffer wraps and what is causing this delay?
