Prevent inputs of special characters (Doc ID 492874.1)

Last updated on JULY 11, 2017

Applies to:

Siebel Tools - Version 7.5.3.4 [16180] and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Symptoms

Is it possible to prevent inputs of special characters (like %?!...) with High Interactivity applications?
It seems that in javascript, this can be done using the "onkeypress" event, associated with some other functions.
In example:

function numCheck(e)
{
keyEntry = !isIE? e.which:event.keyCode; if((keyEntry < '48') || (keyEntry > '57')) {return false; }
}
...
<textarea cols="25" rows="5" onkeypress="return numCheck(event)" >Enter only numeric values.
</textarea>

As you can see, in this way, even if the key is pressed, the character is not written down in the input field.
Is it possible to implement this functionality in Siebel Applications?
