Siebel Support,

How do you install Siebel Strong Encryption in an environment that was created using a database backup of an existing environment with this already installed? We are running into what we perceive as issues, and do not know how to handle this. Below is our situation.

Created a QA environment using a database backup of Production that did not have this installed. Went through the installation of Siebel Strong Encryption up to 7.5.3.8, changed the key db password, ran the keydbupgrade, encrypted the columns, etc. Did not add any new keys, rather, just used what was in the keyfile.bin file. Everything works fine.

We are now creating a UAT environment using a database backup of the QA environment mentioned above. Did the Siebel App Server installs and went to install the Siebel Strong Encryption. When I tried to change the key database password, figured out that it was set to what we have in the QA environment mentioned above. It was not the default key database password. Since it was not the default, I went ahead with the installs since this was a pre-req for that. I installed the Siebel Strong Encryption up to 7.5.3.8 without any issues. Then I tried to change the key database password again, and again it would not let me. So next, I tried running the keydbupgrade command. This time, I got a different error message. This is where I stopped.

My question is, how do I install Siebel Strong Encryption into this environment? Below are the two error messages I received when trying to first change the key database password and second when I tried running the keydbupgrade command.

From trying to change the key database password:

Please enter the new key database password:

Please reenter the new key database password:Error during encryption or decryption operation by the RC2 Encryptor.

Error: Fail to update the key database password.
