Symptoms

Customer has a business-portal with excessive functionality that rely on Siebel amongst other solutions. In this case, Siebel authenticate the users and use Siebel business logic to present information to our customers.

Connection to Siebel was using standard connect string: siebel.TCPIP.none.none/1.1.1.1/SESP/FINSObjMgr_enu

The SCBroker handling the request fails with the following error:

SCBroker    ScbInfo    3    0    2006-09-28 20:42:37    Processing url: http://1.1.1.1:2321/sesp/finsobjmgr_/rr

GenericLog    GenericError    1    0    2006-09-28 20:42:37    (scbcomp.cpp (399) err=7100008 sys=0) SBL-SCB-00008: Component (finsobjmgr_) is unavailable on this server.

Notice the /rr at the end of the URL.

Connected tests to another server with a working SCBroker shows following :

SCBroker    ScbInfo    3    0    2006-09-28 20:36:50    Processing url: http://test:2321/sesp/finsobjmgr_enu
