How to Refresh a Popup Applet in Query Mode Based on a VBC (Doc ID 509987.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2025

Applies to:

Siebel Tools - Version 7.7.2.2 SIA [18356] and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Database: Oracle 9i
Application Server OS: Sun Solaris 9
Database Server OS: Sun Solaris 9

Goal

The requirement is to force a refresh/reload on a popup applet that is in query mode and is built on a virtual business component.

The method endorsed by Siebel to execute a query according to "Doc 476763.1: How can users refresh an applet via code?", however, it is needed to refresh a popup applet in query mode where running 'ExecuteQuery' will cause the applet to switch to edit list mode and display a bunch of records.

The UI should display a button on the popup applet in query mode based on a specific result being returned by the query.
The logic for whether to display the button is in the 'PreCanInvoke' method for the applet - precaninvoke event is fired when the applet is refreshed or loaded.

Sample:

What other methods/options are there for refreshing/reloading an applet?
