eConfigurator Link Item does not Resolve it's Definition Due to Visibility Mode (Doc ID 526597.1)

Symptoms

Customer has issues with eConfigurator link items in production. When using link items to query the field values of Opportunity Products and Opportunity Attachments. Link items only worked when login's position was on the opportunity team. In all other cases it failed.
