Symptoms
Question was posed to Oracle Support regarding functionality of the Activity Alarm popup message. This is a popup message that reminds the user of activities which have been flagged for reminder. The question was - does the Activity Alarm popup message use the Siebel Server's timezone or the user's timezone?
The question can be illustrated by an example.
- USER-A is physically located in Indian Standard Timezone.
- The Siebel Server is in Pacific Standard Timezone.
USER-A creates a activity record in the thin client. The Start Date for the activity is set to be one hour from the user's current system time. So the expectation is the Alarm should popup in one 1 hour after the activity record creation.
It was found that the alarm popped up after considerable time, several hours after the expected time.
