HTTP web server is using up nearly all memory resources, and quickly crashes.

Customer has a requirement to support 1300 simultaneous clients per web server (two web server to handle 600 clients, but one must be able to handle the full load if one web server is down).

Using the Siebel recommended settings for the IFModule.worker.c module, the customer started with this configuration in the httpd.conf file on the web server, which causes the problem:

<IfModule worker.c>
ThreadLimit 60
ServerLimit 1
StartServers 1
MaxClients 60
MinSpareThreads 1
MaxSpareThreads 60
ThreadsPerChild 60

Use this configuration to meet, but exceed the requirement of 1300 threads/sessions (noting that MaxClients must be a multiple of 512, MaxClients = ServerLimit * ThreadsPerChild, and ServerLimit *  ThreadsPerChild = MaxClients):

<IfModule worker.c>
ThreadLimit 256
ServerLimit 6
StartServers 2
MaxClients 1536
MinSpareThreads 32
MaxSpareThreads 64
ThreadsPerChild 256
