Goal

Advice / procedure to restart the statd (RPC status monitor) and lockd (network lock manager) daemons in Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 only. 

As of Solaris 10 and later these SMF services:

    svc:/network/nfs/status:default   -  for statd

    svc:/network/nfs/nlockmgr:default  - for lockd

should manage the daemons and their associated dependencies automatically.
