Part of the difficulty in working with system hangs is knowing whether or not the system is actually hung. Sometimes it appears that the system is hung when in fact only a particular application is hung. For example users of an application may report that "the system is hung" when in fact the operating system itself is still running but the application has hung. The goal of this document is to assist you in determining if in fact the system is hung and based on your findings, how to troubleshoot further.
