Solaris Cluster 3.1/3.2 and 4.x Procedure to Implement STMS (MPxIO) on a Pre-Existing Cluster Installation with Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) with Cluster Running (Doc ID 1002637.1)

Last updated on APRIL 29, 2024

Applies to:

Sun Storage Traffic Manager Software - Version 3.1 to 4.6 [Release 3.0 to 4.0]
Solaris Cluster - Version 3.1 to 3.2 [Release 3.1 to 3.2]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)

Goal

This procedure can be used to help enable STMS/MPxIO in an already-running Sun Solaris Cluster environment with SVM metadevices/metasets being used. This procedure can be used with the nodes left online within cluster, but it can be made easier by taking the nodes out of cluster instead.

DISCLAIMER: This document may not always work for every situation and environment, but it can be considered helpful prior to performing a re-installation (if needed). In some cases, since MPxIO wasn't enabled first (as is typically done), best-practice suggests a re-installation is the best method.
