How to get sequential controller numbers for SAN devices (Doc ID 1003515.1)

Symptoms

For any reason in the life cycle of a server, SAN devices may be tied to device number in a non sequential way,

ie :
First device is on c3, second device is on c6 and not on c4 entry.

Usual reconfiguration commands may be useless :
# rm /dev/cfg/c6
# devfsadm -Cv
