Goal

The solaris command, iostat, reports on many disk drive attributes. It may be used to review performance, total I/O's as well as error counts. When iostat is used with the "-E" modifier, it will report on the Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA). A normal PFA is zero. This document provides an approach to a non-zero (usually 1) PFA.
