Oracle HSM (SAM-QFS) - The sam-archiverd or sam-arfind Archiving Daemon Is Not Running and Will Not Start
(Doc ID 1004347.1)
Last updated on OCTOBER 24, 2018
Applies to:Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 3.5 and later
This document will guide you through troubleshooting items that might prevent the archive daemons from starting. In order for archiving to take place for a file system, the parent archiver daemon, sam-archiverd(1M), and the archive scanning daemon, sam-arfind(1M), must be running. A separate sam-arfind(1M) daemon should be running for each file system that is expected to archive.
The inability to archive files may cause issues in these areas:
- File system is 100% full or is not releasing to Low Water Mark (LWM)
- Files cannot be retrieved/read/staged - Tapes are not being drained by the recycler
- Unable to release a file manually - Archiving is not taking place for all files in the file system
