Sun Enterprise[TM] 10000: Boot fails with "munged memory list" errors (Doc ID 1004475.1)

Symptoms

Attempting to boot an Sun Enterprise[TM] 100000 from a Solaris[TM] 2.6 boot disk, I got the following error:

Rebooting with command: boot Boot device: /sbus@48,0/QLGC,isp@0,10000/sd@0,0:a File and args: panic[cpu8]/thread=0x10404040: munged memory list = 0x1040395c

The system immediately reset and rebooted again with the same errors.
