SAM-QFS: R Flag is Preventing sam-releaser From Running (Doc ID 1005536.1)

Last updated on MARCH 16, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 3.5 to 4.6 [Release 3.0 to 4.0]
All Platforms

On rare occasions, the 'R' flag, which represents the releaser process is actively running on a file system, can become stuck. This usually occurs if the sam-releaser process was interrupted or exited prematurely. It can be seen in the samu 'f' or 'm' display:

# samcmd f
File systems samcmd 4.6.25 13:15:25 Jan 4 2008
samcmd on hostname
ty eq state device_name status high low mountpoint server
ms 60 on samfs1 m--R-2----d 80% 70% /samfs1
# samcmd m
Mass storage status samcmd 4.6.25 13:31:30 Jan 4 2008
samcmd on hostname
ty eq status use state ord capacity free ra part high low
ms 60 m--R-2----d 89% on 9.146G 1002.875M 1M 16 80% 70%

And a pgrep shows sam-releaser process isn't running

# pgrep -lf sam-releaser
