Last updated on JULY 29, 2016

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 8.0 to 10 1/13 U11 [Release 8.0 to 10.0]
All Platforms

Goal

This provides some examples for using the nisaddent(1M) command to export NIS+ databases into ASCII textfiles and import these again into NIS+.

It is strongly recommended to create a backup of your NIS+ data before you start importing any information into NIS+. See the section "2.18: How to regularly administrate NIS+" in the other document 1008538.1 "NIS+ PSD/FAQ" for an example of backing up and restoring NIS+.
