Note, this document applies to Solaris 10 and below only. For Solaris 11, please instead refer to the Product Guides in relation to "ipadm" command.
The purpose of this document is to explain how to change a system's hostname and/or IP address without running the sys-unconfig command since this will restore the system's configuration to an "as-manufactured" state, ready to be reconfigured again. See the sys-unconfig(1M) man page for more information regarding the changes which this command makes to the system.
