Red Hat boot error: hda: IRQ probe failed or no response (status = 0x0a) (Doc ID 1006502.1)

Goal

 During install of Red Hat RHEL3 WS U4, you may notice a slight delay during boot, or see the following repeated warnings during bootup:

hda: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8)
hda: IRQ probe failed (0xfffffef8)
hda: no response (status = 0x0a), resetting drive

After a short delay, the system continues to boot and the system functions normally.
