fsck: “CANNOT READ: BLK 2036352” (Doc ID 1007649.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 04, 2017

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 8.0 and later
All Platforms

Symptoms

When running an fsck (for "file system check" or "file system consistency check") on a disk wrongly labeled, one gets the error message:

CANNOT READ: BLK 2036352

CONTINUE

A positive answer will initiate a destructive process which might be avoided.

If the fsck is performed during the boot process, one will be stuck at the single-user level.

In case, the filesystem is not based on a slice (SVM/DiskSuite soft partition or VxVM volume), see Problem Resolution <Document: 1010217.1> .
