Goal

In Solaris 10 and above, the Service Management Facility (SMF) is used to manage system daemons and other applications.  SMF ensures that dependencies are met before starting or stopping daemons and applications, and restarts daemons if necessary.  This document describes some steps commonly used to identify and restore failed SMF services.
