How to set ARP timeout values by ndd (Solaris 9 and older) (Doc ID 1008527.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2015

Applies to:

Solaris SPARC Operating System - Version 8.0 to 9 9/05 HW U9 [Release 8.0 to 9.0]
All Platforms

Arp cache entries time out to soon. Attempting to tune the arp table size doesn't work. The arptab_size tunable parameter does not exist.

The customer needs a better description of the arp timeout variables that are set in ndd.

NOTE - This document applies to Solaris 9 and older only.   Some variable names have changed in later versions of Solaris.   Until the document can be updated for Solaris 10 and later, please contact Oracle Global Customer Support if you need to know the new variable names for the ARP timeout values.
