BOOT: Error on bootup: getexecname() failed. "ps" command doesn't work (Doc ID 1010120.1)

Solaris Operating System - Version 8.0 and later

Symptoms

During bootup, system has the following errors:

swap: getexecname() failed
/usr/bin/savecore: getexecname() failed

Solaris[TM] 8 and above will also generate:

prtconf: getexecname() failed

Then after logging in, simple commands like "ps" and "swap" cannot be executed. You will get similar errors:

ps: getexecname() failed
swap: getexecname() failed

You will get the above error for any isa specific executables invoked by isaexec(3c).
