Symptoms

A user gets the following error message when attempting to connect to a
host running Solaris[TM] 2.x Operating System, via telnet or rlogin (any pseudo-tty based connection). 

# telnet felix
Trying AAA.BBB.CCC.82...
Connected to felix.
Escape character is '^]'.
telnetd: could not grant secondary pty.
Connection closed by foreign host.
#

# rlogin felix
rlogind: could not grant secondary pty.
Connection closed.
#
