Goal
Service Mode is expected to be used only under the direct supervision of an Oracle Authorized Service Provider (an Oracle Solution Center Engineer or Oracle badged Field Engineer)
Please note that service mode password is Oracle internal only and cannot be shared to non-Oracle Personnel; however, once service mode is enabled, Customers may be required to perform some troubleshooting/diagnosis actions under strict supervision by Oracle Engineer.
Service Mode is used only for specific service related procedures, such as:
- Resetting a component's CHS status (See Document: 1004879.1)
- Resetting the LOM password on a Sun Fire[TM] v1280, E2900 or Netra[TM] 1280, 1290
It is preferred that Service Mode procedures be performed by an Oracle Solution Center Engineer utilizing Oracle Shared Shell.
- By using Oracle Shared Shell, the customer will be able to watch the procedure you perform while it happens but will not have access to Service Mode.
