RPC services not registered if rpcbind restarted /etc/init.d/rpc (Doc ID 1011678.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 13, 2019

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 8.0 to 9 9/05 U8 [Release 8.0 to 9.0]
All Platforms

If, on Solaris 8 or Solaris 9, you use the script /etc/init.d/rpc to restart services, you can then 'break' rpcbind, and registered RPC services.

After the restart, previously registered RPC services - such as NFS, NIS, NIS+ (or others) are no longer registered with the RPC portmapper (rpcbind).
