How to use tip(1) to provide a alternate system console and capture watchdog or kadb output
(Doc ID 1011739.1)
Last updated on JUNE 13, 2023
Applies to:
Solaris Operating System - Version 8.0 and laterAll Platforms
Goal
The purpose of this document is to explain how to use tip and record the system console output. This is a convenient alternative to using a dumb ascii terminal or graphics terminal as the system console, since information (for example from watchdog resets or kadb analysis) can otherwise scroll rapidly with no way to capture the output.
