Forcing an Ethernet network boot client to boot in full duplex or half duplex mode (Doc ID 1011836.1)

Last updated on APRIL 07, 2021

Applies to:

Sun Swift PCI Adapter - Version Not Applicable and later
All Platforms

At Open Boot Prom (OBP) level, all Sun[TM] Ethernet interfaces default to use autonegotiation to connect with the highest possible speed and mode. Since most switches and interfaces use this default, too, it is Sun's recommendation not to change it for regular use.

See Technical Instruction: 1006000.1 Recommended Ethernet Port Configuration (Auto-Negotiation or Manual Configuration) for more information

Following are methods of manually setting Operational Mode parameters for a network boot client (primarily used for JumpStart[TM] installations)
in case autonegotiation does not work (for instance for debugging purposes).
