This document describes the steps to mirror the Solaris Operating System boot disk

- using Solaris Volume Manager on Solaris 10 or
- using Solaris Volume Manager on Solaris 9 or
- using Solstice DiskSuite on Solaris 8

Boot disk mirroring with Solaris Volume Manager is no longer supported on Solaris 11.


Two procedures are described in this document:

A) How to mirror the boot disk

B) How to mirror the the boot disk using file

Any Power Management software (e.g: autopm and autoshutdown) should be fully disabled. Mirrored root partitions may interfere with Power Management software possibly resulting in a OS panic.
