Last updated on APRIL 08, 2021

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 8 6/00 U1 and later
All Platforms

Symptoms

NFS clients intermittently experience a lengthy (as much as 30-seconds or more) delay in receiving a response from Solaris[TM] NFS server when attempting to access an NFS mount point.

The delay occurs when the NFS client requests a file or the status of the NFS mount point after some period of not accessing it. After approximately 30 seconds the NFS server responds.

When this situation occurs, the following error is also posted in the /var/adm/messages file on the NFS server:

unix: WARNING: nfsauth: mountd not responding
