How to Reset the iostat -E Error Counters Without Rebooting
(Doc ID 1012731.1)
Last updated on OCTOBER 17, 2024
Applies to:
Solaris Operating System - Version 10 and laterAll Platforms
Goal
If iostat -E is reporting non zero values for errors, these values will not be reset to zero until system is rebooted.
In certain situations, it may be preferred that these parameters be reset to zero. For instance, after replacing a faulty disk the error counters for the faulty disk needs to be reset. This can be easily achieved in Solaris 10 and 11.
CAUTION: The safest method to reset these values is to reboot your system! If you use the following script you do so at your own risk.
