HSC - Display DRives Shows Drives in MOUNTING or DISMOUNTING Status (Doc ID 1014821.1)

Sun StorageTek Host Software Component (HSC) - Version 6.2 and later
IBM z/OS on System z

Symptoms

HSC Display DRives output shows a few drives in MOUNTING or DISMOUNTING status.
MVS Unload command is returned Pending Unload (because the drives are still allocated).
Cycling HSC does not clear the Mounting/Dismounting status in HSC.
MVS Display Unit output for all hosts shows the status for those drives as ALLOCATED UNKNOWN but these drives are not allocated to any job.
The drives will not Vary Offline to MVS even when the parameter FORCE is used.
