Solaris How to Unconfigure Logical Unit from SAN Storage (Doc ID 1017942.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2022

Applies to:

Sun Storage SAN Foundation Software - Version 4.0 and later
Solaris Operating System - Version 8 and later
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86 (32-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)

Goal

When storage devices that present multiple luns to Solaris through a Storage Area Network(SAN) have some of those luns removed or made unavailable, Solaris device entries will still exist for those luns.
However Solaris may report "missing" or "failing" states for those luns. This document explains how to clean up the device entries and hence remove the error condition which is caused by Solaris trying to access the unavailable luns.

This document applies to Solaris 8 and later release and is specific to SAN Storage and does not apply to point-to-point connected Fiber Channel Storage (also referred as direct-attached FC Storage).
