Font conversion fails running X applications from a remote machine

Symptoms
When a user at a Solaris[TM] box telnets to another Solaris box and tries to run admintool to display back to the local machine, he gets the following errors:
Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion
Warning: Cannot convert string "-dt-interface system-medium-r-normal-xl*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" to type FontSet
Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion
Warning: Unable to load any usable fontset
Warning:
Name: FONTLIST_DEFAULT_TAG_STRING
Class: XmRendition
Conversion failed. Cannot load font.
In addition, when trying to run an install program on the remote cdrom drive, the screen is unreadable.
