After upgrading to Solaris[TM] 10, the machine no longer receives multicast packets (IGMP issue) (Doc ID 1018201.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 29, 2020

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 8.0 and later
All Platforms

It is reported by some customers that when they upgraded their machine to Solaris[TM] 10, it is no longer able to receive multicast packets. Some of the customer's applications dealing with multicast, which were working well with Solaris[TM] 8 and 9, stop working.

Snoop collected on this Solaris[TM] 10 machine shows that it is sending IGMP membership reports whenever the application joins a multicast group as well as when it receives a query from the switch/router. Snoop also shows that the Solaris 10 host sends multicast packets to destination addresses, but no multicast packets are received from any of the addresses that the application has joined.
