Changing the hostname on Solaris 10 and newer may involve more than /etc/inet/hosts (Doc ID 1018249.1)

Last updated on MAY 09, 2018

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 3/05 to 11.3 [Release 10.0 to 11.0]
All Platforms

The information in this document does only apply to Solaris version 10 and newer, but not to any older version of Solaris.

Depending on how the files /etc/hosts, /etc/inet/hosts and /etc/inet/ipnodes are configured on a system, changing the hostname of a system by editing the file /etc/inet/hosts only, may not be enough and the hostname may also need to get changed in the file /etc/inet/ipnodes.
