Changing the hostname on Solaris 10 and newer may involve more than /etc/inet/hosts
Last updated on AUGUST 01, 2016
Applies to:Solaris Operating System - Version 10 3/05 to 11.3 [Release 10.0 to 11.0]
Depending on how the files /etc/hosts, /etc/inet/hosts and /etc/inet/ipnodes are configured on a system, changing the hostname of a system by editing the file /etc/inet/hosts only, may not be enough and the hostname may also need to get changed in the file /etc/inet/ipnodes.
